Federal Housing Policy
Federal investments in affordable housing have lifted millions of families out of poverty.
Federal investments in affordable housing at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Rural Housing Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provide families and communities with the resources that they need to thrive. Without these investments, many of these families would be homeless, living in substandard or overcrowded conditions, or struggling to meet other basic needs because too much of their limited income goes to pay rent or mortgage payments.
"The greatest thing I have learned is how good it is to come home again.”
- Eleanor Roosevelt, Former First Lady of the United States
