UWRI: Facebook LIVE event on Thursday, May 7
Join United Way of Rhode Island for a Facebook LIVE event on Thursday, May 7
United Way of Rhode Island, housing advocates, and business leaders are urging state leaders and budget makers to protect proposed housing investments, as they begin the difficult work to rebuild Rhode Island's economy.
SPEAKERS:
Cortney Nicolato, President and CEO - United Way of Rhode Island
Michele Lederberg, Executive Vice President - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island
Paola Fernandez, Vice President - Centreville Bank
Karen Santilli, President and CEO - Crossroads RI
Brenda Clement, Director - HousingWorks RI
WHY INVESTING IN HOUSING IS CRITICAL:
During the COVID pandemic, the correlation between housing and healthcare has only been heightened.
The crisis has resulted in nearly 200,000 unemployment claims and stopped the state's economy in its tracks.
Proposed housing investments outlined in the Governor's State of the State earlier this year are more important than ever.
Investments in housing construction will create good-paying construction jobs and increase housing stock across Rhode Island so more people can access safe, affordable housing.
