ProJo: Bill would put halt on evictions in R.I.

PROVIDENCE -- State lawmakers are poised to introduce legislation that would impose a moratorium on evictions and mortgage foreclosures in Rhode Island during the state of emergency declared due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The measure, to be sponsored by Sen. William J. Conley Jr. and Rep. Grace Diaz, also calls for the creation of a mediation diversion program in state District Court, according to a news release from Homes RI, a coalition of housing advocates.
