Pillowcases Needed for Housing and Homelessness Project

Eric Hirsch is seeking donations of new or gently used pillowcases for an advocacy project that he and other housing colleagues are organizing.

The goal is to collect 1,055 pillowcases to represent the number of people who are homeless in Rhode Island on any given night. Once collected, the pillowcases will be displayed at the State House and other places to remind legislators (and others) that not every Rhode Islander has a safe and decent place to lay their head each night.

If you would like to donate, please bring or send the pillowcases to the HousingWorks RI office, and Brenda Clement, HWRI's Director, will make sure Eric receives them.

In addition, there will also be a few dates in early February at AS220 to “decorate” the pillowcases in an effort to share the story of housing and homelessness challenges in the state. Details will be shared on this once they are confirmed.

If there are any questions, please contact Brenda Clement, HWRI Director, at bclement@rwu.edu.
