NLIHC: Senate Releases FY2020 Housing Spending Bill
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted unanimously yesterday to approve a spending bill for affordable housing and community development programs for fiscal year (FY) 2020. Given the tight timeline before the start of the fiscal year on October 1, lawmakers are moving quickly to pass a stopgap funding measure, known as a continuing resolution (CR), to avoid a lapse in funding and a government shutdown. Yesterday, the House passed by a vote of 301-123 a CR to fund the government through November 21. The bill will now need to pass the Senate to avoid a government shutdown.
