HousingWorks RI (HWRI) at Roger Williams University is a research and policy organization focused on housing affordability indicators, and their relation to the Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), in the Ocean State.
Mission
HousingWorks RI (HWRI) at Roger Williams University is a clearinghouse of information about housing in Rhode Island. We conduct research and analyze data to inform public policy.
We develop communications strategies and promote dialogue about the relationship between housing and the state's economic future and our residents' well-being.
Vision
HousingWorks RI (HWRI) at Roger Williams University envisions a Rhode Island in which communities embrace a variety of housing choices so that residents, regardless of income, can live in healthy, quality homes in vibrant and thriving neighborhoods.
Strategic Goals
Goal 1:
Advance housing affordability as a public policy priority, essential to Rhode Island's economic future and the health, well-being and prosperity of its residents.
Goal 2:
Educate and inform state and local decision makers on the importance of an integrated approach to improving housing affordability that includes public investment and a supportive regulatory climate.
Goal 3:
Through research, data, and compelling communications, increase awareness of the importance of housing affordability and support for a wide range of housing options in Rhode Island cities and towns.
Goal 4:
Serve as the foremost clearinghouse for information on housing affordability in Rhode Island; and bring together diverse groups of stakeholders to connect this information with other issue areas including economic development, education, and health.
