Registration now open for Spring 2012

The Partnership for Community Development is now accepting registrations for the Spring semester, which begins on January 25th, 2012.

Roger Williams University's Institute for Public Policy and the School of Continuing Studies, together with the Housing Network of Rhode Island, offers a five-course Professional Certificate and/or a concentration in the Bachelor of General Studies in Community Development. Classes are held at both the Providence and Bristol campuses, as well as online.

CSH Supportive Housing & Healthcare Webinar Series

On Thursday, October 27th from 3 - 4p.m. EST, the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) will host a webinar entitled Where to Start? How to Know What Your State Should Do to Improve Medicaid’s Connection with Supportive Housing.

Presented as part of CSH's 2011 Supportive Housing & Healthcare Webinar Series, this webinar will examine the differences in Medicaid from state to state and how those differences relate to reimbursement for services in supportive housing. 

CSH has developed ‘Medicaid Crosswalk' in several states, which helps to outline state-specific issues. Webinar presenters will explain how this process works and the next steps it has generated.

Thirty-five years at Amos House!

On Friday, October 14th from 6 - 10 p.m., join Amos House as they celebrate their 35th Anniversary.

This culinary celebration, hosted by Amos House's own More Than a Meal Catering, will feature interpretations of Rhode Island's favorite dishes, festive drinks, dancing, live and silent auctions, and an art installation showcasing Amos House's history.

Coalition Honors Exemplary Work

On Monday, the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless hosted their Annual Awards luncheon paying tribute to the exemplary work of those individuals whose contributions lend support to creating a Rhode Island that refuses to let any man, woman or child be homeless.

Themed Courage to Change, this year's event focused on the hard work already being done and the critical need for a permanent funding source to continue to address the pressing needs of our residents.

Honored at this year's event were:

John Joyce of the Rhode Island Homeless Advocacy Project who received the Senator Jack Reed Advocacy Award.

Annual Awards Luncheon

On Monday, March 28, from 12-2 p.m., join the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless as they host their Annual Awards Luncheon at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. This event brings together affordable housing and homeless prevention advocates from across Rhode Island to celebrate accomplishments, award community heroes, and demonstrate commitment to ending homelessness in Rhode Island.

Ribbon Cutting celebration

On Friday February 25th, Omni Development Corporation and Rhode Island Housing, along with their community partners, cordially invite you to join them for a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of Turning Point in Providence.

This new development will soon be home to 14 veterans who were once homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, and will provide residents with access to critical supportive services, such as job training and case management.

Among the funding sources for this development, $590,000 was provided through the Building Homes Rhode Island program.
